Tropical Storm Isaias is charging through North Carolina after making landfall as a category one hurricane Monday night. Maximum sustained winds are 70 miles an hour as Isaias moves north-northeast at 28 miles an hour. The storm is expected to bring rain and a chance of flooding along the mid-Atlantic today. It is aimed at Western Massachusetts where the people in the Weather Center are expecting about three inches of rains and gusting winds to nearly 50 miles per hour in some cases.
Department of Public Works crews are out to unblock storm drains to relieve the threat of flooding. Eversource and National Grid have both pre-positioned crews and have utilized crews from Canada to keep up with the expected outages.
The rain is expected to start by mid afternoon although there have been a wide range of showers already throughout the region.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for all of Western Mass in addition to the Tropical Storm Warning.
Skies will turn partly sunny Wednesday. There still will be a chance for a shower. The High will be in the 80s.
