State Teachers Call For On-Line Only School Year

Teachers from across Massachusetts are calling for a delay in returning kids to the classroom.

They gathered at the State Capitol arguing that the state's plan to resume in-person classes at this time is dangerous, and must be delayed to ensure the safety of students and faculty.

The teachers called for on-line learning until it is absolutely safe to return.

Education officials say they are following a metric developed by the state health department that was developed to keep students and staff safe as they return to class.

Governor Baker has called for school districts where there are low rates of positive coronavirus cases to return to in school learning whenever possible.
