Springfield Fire officials have made an arrest in an outstanding Arson Case. Officials say they have arrested Jose Rodriquez Acevedo and charged him with Arson of a Dwelling and three charges of Causing injury to a firefighter in performance of their duties.
Fire officials say that they were called on August 23rd to a vacant building on Locust Street.
The Springfield Police Detective Bureau and Springfield Fire Arson & Bomb Squad investigation identified Mr. Rodriguez-Acevedo as the suspect who started an August 23rd fire on the 300 block of Locust Street. Detectives requested and were issued a warrant for his arrest.
Three firefighters sustained injuries while putting out this early morning fire. Mr. Rodriguez-Acevedo had lit a mattress on fire that then spread quickly to the nearby buildings.
No information has been released from the arraignment session.
