Officials at Raytheon say they plan to eliminate some 15 thousand jobs this year.
The cuts will come from the corporate office in Waltham as well as Pratt and Whitney as well as Collins Aerospace.
CEO Greg Hayes says there has been a dramatic downturn in the airline industry--attributable to the pandemic.
At Pratt and Whitney the cuts amount to 20 percent of the workforce.
