Springfield Public Schools will resume remote-learning on Friday.
A cyber attack prompted the cancellation of virtual classes on Thursday.
The Springfield School Department is investigating the origin of the attack.
Officials say that they knew early Thursday morning that there was an issue.
The FBI is investigating. Other than to say that there was a "potential IT attack" school officials aren't saying what the specific threat was.
Only that there was no data breached.
Meantime, Northampton canceled in-person learning on Thursday due to a rise in cases in Holyoke.
According to the Daily Hampshire Gazette, an agreement with the teachers' union stipulates such a cancellation if the average daily case rate in NoHo, Easthampton or Holyoke gets too high. Northampton started the school year remotely except for prioritized students.
A joint labor management committee will make a recommendation for the timing of returning to in-person learning.
