Springfield Takes A Time Out On Ballot Drop Box During Halloween

The city of Springfield is temporarily closing its mail ballot drop-box this weekend.

The city says it has received a directive from the Massachusetts Secretary of State for enhanced security of the drop-boxes leading up to Halloween.

The Springfield drop-box will be closed at noon on Saturday and will be re-opened on Sunday morning.

Mayor Domenic Sarno says the action is being taken out of an abundance of caution.
