Governor Installs New Trustees At HSH

Governor Charlie Baker announced two new appointments to the Holyoke Soldiers' Home board of trustees on Wednesday.

They are Major General Gary Keefe and Lieutenant Colonel Mark Bigda of the National Guard.

Baker said they are distinguished military and community leaders who will bring expertise that will benefit residents of the Soldiers' Home as it continues to navigate through the coronavirus pandemic.

Meantime, two former officials at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke are scheduled for arraignment today.

Former Superintendent Bennett Walsh of Springfield and former Medical Director David Clinton of South Hadley, are charged with criminal neglect for their roles in the coronavirus pandemic that led to the death of at least 76 residents.

The virtual arraignments are at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow in Hampden Superior Court.
