Baystate Investigates Covid Outbreak

The last time Baystate Medical Center dealt was an outbreak was back in July when it had 23 employees and 13 patients with the virus.

Now a second outbreak---16 employees --four patients...but we don't know what specific unit was effected.

Contact tracing is being done now on the outbreak that happened sometime between the 6th and the 16th of the month.

The outbreak comes at a time when Springfield saw nearly 700 cases in a week and officials fear the numbers could go higher this week.

Meantime, in nearby Chicopee officials overnight announced 347 active cases on the books and the first death of a person from the virus since the spring. 18 in total.
