Hospitals Busy---But Ready For Post Holiday Surge

The number of people hospitalized in Massachusetts with coronavirus has risen close to levels reached during the spring surge.

State officials say the count of patients in hospitals with the virus rose by 27 yesterday, and is over 22 hundred.

More than 400 of those patients are in intensive care.

The state yesterday reported more than 36 hundred new positive tests for coronavirus, with 58 new deaths attributed to the illness.

Officials are suggesting that there could be a post holiday surge of cases sometime around January 5th.
