Holyoke To Get Third Superintendent-Receiver For School System

The superintendent and receiver of the Holyoke School District is resigning.

The state education department announced the departure of Alberto Vazquez Matos on Friday. The state placed Holyoke into receivership in 2015 due to lowered test scores and graduation numbers.

Vazquez Matos had been on the job for less than a year and was placed on paid leave in February.

No reason has been given.  It is unclear when a replacement will be named.

Anthony Soto, the chief finance and operation officer in the district, is serving as interim receiver-superintendent.
