Worcester Standoff Ends With Suspect Shot Dead

Worcester and State Police continue to investigate after a man who said he had a bomb--and then started advancing toward police was killed.

The Worcester DA Joe Early says police received a phone call from the man last night, who said he had a bomb.

Police were able to ping the man's phone and were led to an area of Grafton Street. Police were also told by the man that he had a rifle.

A Crisis Team was sent to the scene and negotiations progressed.

"At which point the man advanced towards the police officers, at that point there was a shooting, and the man -- the suspect, was pronounced dead at the scene," Early said.

Early says he will have more to say about the case later today.

It is unclear if there is any body camera or dash camera footage from the incident.
