Massachusetts Senators Ed Markey and Liz Warren and Congressman Jim McGovern are re-introducing legislation that could impact the future of passenger rail service in Western and Central Massachusetts.
Labeled the "Brain Train" Act, the legislation would authorize the U.S. Department of Transportation to award 25-billion dollars over five years for high-performance rail projects.
The DOT would be instructed to especially consider regions that are unconnected or under-connected.
Meantime, Springfield Congressman Richard Neal and Hartford Congressman John Larson are expected to make similar calls for the East West Rail project later today.
