State Vaccination Goals Reached As Springfield Plays Catch-Up

The state has reached it's targeted milestone of fully vaccinating four-point-one-million residents for coronavirus.

That was the target set by state officials when vaccines were made available.

The state yesterday reported just 33 positive tests for coronavirus in the previous day, along with one new death.

Governor Charlie Baker says with the growth of variants, the state will be continuing efforts to administer more vaccine shots.

Meantime, in western Mass--

American International College is requiring students and employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 before the fall semester. AIC president Vincent Maniaci says the requirement will allow for in-person classes without mask requirements. Students can request medical or religious exemptions.

And, Springfield Technical Community College is hosting a new COVID-19 vaccine clinic. It will run Thursdays starting tomorrow through the end of July. Appointments can be made by visiting the website of vaccine distribution company Curative, which ran the site at the Eastfield Mall.
