Massachusetts Reports Rising Coronavirus Rate

The infection rate of coronavirus in Massachusetts continues rising.

The seven-day positive test rate is up to almost two-point-nine percent.

A couple of months ago it was less than half-a-percent.

However, the state Department of Public Health says the vaccine is very effective nonetheless, noting that it's preventing serious illness and death in the overwhelming majority of cases.

Officials say 106 people have died in Massachusetts because of breakthrough infections.
