Federal Class Action Suit Filed In Holyoke Soldiers Home Tragedy

Holyoke Soldiers Home workers have filed a federal class action suit---charging that they were forced to take care of residents during the pandemic in inhumane conditions, that they administrators ignored the guidance of the CDC at the time and then administrators lied about the actions that they took.

The former administrator Bennett Walsh is named in the suit as is the former medical director Dr David Clinton. 77 residents at the facility died during the pandemic.

The suit is critical of many of the decisions made during the pandemic--including the first.

One that would allow the first patient to contract the virus to wander the halls outside of the isolation center.

No comment from state officials yet.
