Western Mass Wrestles With Masking In Schools

Masking in schools is still one of the hottest questions going around western Mass and it all depends where you are ---as to what is being done.

West Springfield had a forum last night for parents and students about what might happen during the school year. The school committee is expected to vote by Monday on what the game plan is for the new school year.

In East Longmeadow, they aren't done with the issue. The School Committee opted to "strongly suggest" rather than mandate masks for students in school. Now more than 500 parents have signed a petition asking that the vote be reconsidered in favor of a masking requirement.

Longmeadow- next door, adopted an indoor mask requirement in public spaces as well.

All this comes about as just over the border in Connecticut Governor Lamont has ordered a mask mandate for K thru 12 ---he says hopefully only for the first couple of months of the school year.
