State Supreme Court Sets Stage For Another Rintala Retrial

The Massachusetts Supreme Court is vacating the murder conviction of Cara Rintala.

She is the Hampshire County woman who was convicted 10 years ago of killing her same sex wife. In issuing its ruling the high court rules that it was an error to allow an expert to testify as to the time of death of Annamarie Rintala.

The high court says it was prejudicial to allow the expert testimony.

But the high court did not say that the case could not continue. Instead it sent the case back to the trial court for further action.

So far there has been no comment from the Hampshire County DA as to whether or not he will retry the case.
