Covid Cases In Springfield Schools Continue To Rise

The state is reporting over two-thousand new coronavirus cases among Massachusetts public school students in the last week.

State education officials also say there were 345 cases in the last week involving public school faculty and staff.

The highest number of school infections was in Springfield in the last week, followed by New Bedford and Worcester.

The positive test rates among Massachusetts public school students and staff is well below one-percent.

Meantime, overall five new coronavirus deaths were reported in Western Massachusetts on Thursday across all demographics.

The regional pandemic death toll increased to two-thousand-369.

The number of new virus cases reported yesterday in Western Mass was two-hundred-seven.
