City To Spend 5 Million Dollars On Police Misconduct Suits

The city of Springfield is earmarking five-million dollars to settle police misconduct cases.

The City Council voted 10-to-1 in favor of the move.

City solicitor Ed Pikula said the money would help Springfield settle a number of misconduct cases but did specify which ones.

Pikula also said an agreement is pending with the U.S. Department of Justice, which released a report on excessive force issues in the Springfield Police Department last year.
