The state is reporting 68 hundred new positive tests for coronavirus among public school students in the last week.
The report for the last week shows that over eleven hundred staff members have also tested positive.
The nearly eight thousand positive tests in schools in total for the week is down almost 20-percent from last week's report.
Over a thousand public schools in the state have agreed to participate in the testing program, with all the tests provided by the state for free.
In Springfield officials are reporting 210 students who tested positive for the virus.
That is up slightly from the previous weeks figures.
Meantime, surrounding communities are reporting lower numbers across the board.
