Weather Advisory For Western Mass As Phil Sees Shadow

Western Massachusetts is under a Winter Storm Watch. The National Weather Service says the watch is in effect from late Thursday night to Friday evening. Meteorologists say rain will change to snow and sleet with a flash-freeze possible. Total snow and sleet accumulations could reach six inches for most of the Pioneer Valley.

The Winter Weather Advisory comes on Groundhog's Day.

Punxsutawney Phil has made his annual appearance in western Pennsylvania on this Groundhog Day. He emerged from his burrow this morning in Gobbler's Knob and spotted his shadow. According to tradition, that means winter will stick around for six more weeks.
