Teachers: Students Disconnected From Studies

The Chicopee School Committee voted 11 to 1 last night to allow the two city high schools to prevent students from using their cellphones in class.

The principals concerned that as in-person learning has re-started in the system- students are less engaged in their studies and are more distracted by what is going on on their cellphones and social media than anything else.

Some parents are ok with the crackdown. But some are wondering why they are treating students- soon to be out on their own in the world like little kids. They say it is important to teach responsibility.

Other parents wonder how they will get word to their kids in case of a family emergency.

A trial run of the new protocol is expected sometime in March.
