City Eye Is On Illegal Dumping

City officials say the crackdown on illegal dumping in Springfield is an ongoing effort. Mayor Domenic Sarno says everyone should know the city will go after violators to hold them accountable. He says twenty cameras are now being used in the attempt identify illegal dumpers.

Mayor Sarno stated, “Smile, you are on Springfield’s candid camera. I want to thank and applaud PBRM Director Patrick Sullivan and his team and our brave and dedicated men and women in Blue for their continue efforts in identifying these culprits who feel that it is ok to dump their trash in our parks and throughout our City of Springfield. We are going to remain vigilant to ensure everyone understands illegal dumping will not be tolerated in the City of Springfield and we will go after these individuals to the full extent of the law.”

The Mayor says there are 20 cameras up around problem areas that are constantly being monitored.

And, Mayor Sarno is suggesting that perhaps a judge should allow the city to take the trash that was illegally dumped on city property and dump it back on that person's property instead.
