Neal Condemns Russian Attacks on Ukraine

The growing crisis in Ukraine is on the front burner as President Biden holds a virtual summit with other G7 leaders from the White House. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen are taking part in the closed summit. Biden is expected to make public remarks later today as Russian military forces continue pounding targets in Ukraine. He will likely unveil more economic sanctions against Russia. The President held a meeting with the National Security Council earlier today. Meantime, Springfield Congressman Richard Neal is supporting the President's actions in response to the Ukrainian attack:

“I am supportive of President Biden’s measured and appropriate sanctions against Russia. But the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces was unjustified and unprovoked. Putin is a brazen aggressor, acting in dangerous ways that impact Ukraine, its neighbors, and much of Europe. Putin must be held responsible, and I condemn his deadly actions. We cannot and will not tolerate his authoritarian regime. Ukraine is a sovereign nation, and we must support them and their people.”
