Last Of The Trials In Police Officer Bar Fight Case

Another trial is set to begin Tuesday in a case against a group of Springfield police officers.

The state originally charged over a dozen defendants for the 2015 incident that started when the off-duty officers got into an apparent confrontation with several civilians at Nathan Bill's Bar and Restaurant.

The state alleged that assaults were committed outside the restaurant, and the incident was covered up.

In two previous trials, three officers and the owner of Nathan Bill's have been acquitted.

Two other Springfield policemen have been sentenced, but avoided jail time.

Officer Jose Diaz is the latest police officer to stand trial in the case.
