Work To Begin In August To Fix Sick Building

After years of worker complaints, there is an agreement between the Hampden County Court House workers and the state to fix the nearly 50 year old structure and give it a top to bottom fix.

The agreement reached after nearly two weeks of negotiations prior to an anticipated trial. According to the agreement, work will begin this summer, probably in August to begin the remediation project. That will include removal of toxic mold, an upgrade of the HVAC system in the hopes to improve air quality. In addition, plumbing and other issues will be addressed.

Workers had hoped to get a new building, but it appears that the top to bottom remediation project will settle the fears of longtime, veteran workers at the Springfield complex.
