The Springfield Thunderbirds take a commanding 2 games to none lead in their best of five series with the Charlotte Checkers.
They beat Charlotte 4-3 at the Mass Mutual Center last night. Tommy Cross, Brady Lyle, Will Bitten and James Neal were the goal scorers for Springfield before just over six thousand people.
The Thunderbirds were outshot 50 to 23 but continued to get great goal tending from Joel Hofer to go up in the series.
The series will now shift to Charlotte for the rest of the series with the Thunderbirds needing to win just one more game to close out the series.
Game three is set for Saturday night at 6 from Charlotte.
