The Bruins are moving on from their bench boss.
General manager Don Sweeney announced on Monday that the team has fired head coach Bruce Cassidy.
Sweeney said, "after taking some time to fully digest everything, I felt that the direction of our team for both this season and beyond would benefit from a new voice."
Cassidy had been leading the team since taking over for former head coach Claude Julien in February 2017.
The Bruins reached the playoffs in each of the past six seasons, including a trip to the Stanley Cup Final in 2019.
There has been no timetable announced for a new hire.
