The National Weather Service is including Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties in a Heat Advisory on Thursday and Friday.
Heat index values up to 101 degrees are expected.
The weather service warns hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat-related illnesses.
And state officials have issued an Air Quality Alert for all of Western Mass today because of increased levels of ozone which could lead to breathing difficulties for some.
An official heat wave has a chance to continue in the Springfield area into next Monday before a cool down arrives.
