A preliminary election is held for a Springfield City Council seat.
Lavar Click-Bruce, an aide to Mayor Domenic Sarno, and Edward Collins, a retired labor organizer, were the top two vote-getters on Tuesday.
The Ward 5 seat is vacant after former city council president Marcus Williams resigned.
Click-Bruce and Collins will return to the ballot on September 13th.
City Election officials say there was an approximately ten percent turnout.
