Schools in Springfield, Longmeadow, Holyoke Open

First Day of school in Springfield, Holyoke and Longmeadow today.

It does not appear as if there were any major issues.

In Springfield, the city is unveiling its first in the state program for universal kindergarten for both 3 and 4 year olds.

And Superintendent Dan Warwick says there is a new grading system in place that will insure kids and parents a like will have a better understanding of where they are in their studies.

Springfield's graduation rate continues to climb at a rate right now of 86 percent while the dropout rate is less than 2 percent.
