Race Close For Congress As Early Voting Is Underway

The first televised debate was held Tuesday night between the Republican and Democratic candidates for the Rhode Island 2nd Congressional District.

Former Cranston mayor Allan Fung is vying to become the first GOP member to represent the district in over three decades.

Rhode Island Treasurer Seth Magaziner wants to keep the seat blue after the retirement of longtime incumbent Jim Langevin.

In last night's debate on WPRI-TV, Fung blamed Democrats in Washington for inflation, while Magaziner slammed Fung for aligning with Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. He said Republicans are seeking to strip abortion rights and gut the Social Security program as we know it.

The race is considered close with millions of dollars having already been spent.

Early voting has already opened up in Rhode Island.
