Springfield Seeks Cleaner, Cheaper Energy

The Springfield City Council is pursuing an electricity aggregation program.

Supporters say the program can lead to energy price stability and allow for the pursuit of renewable sources.

Residents would be able to opt out of the alternate supplier and return to Eversource.

There are several more steps necessary, including approval from the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities.

There has been no comment from the Mayor on the proposal.
