Ct To Debate Wine Sales At Grocery Stores

Connecticut package stores are preparing for the fight against an expected bill that would allow the sale of wine in supermarkets.

A similar bill was proposed two years ago that would have only allowed wine produced in Connecticut to be sold in grocery stores, but it failed to pass.

This year's version of the bill is expected to propose the sale of any wine in supermarkets that are allowed to sell alcoholic beverages. It is expected to be a hot button topic again this year.

Lobbyists for the package stores and the Connecticut Food Association representing grocery stores are expected to be busy working on lawmakers for the next few months.

There has been no timetable for the bill to be debated.
