Big Y is announcing an expansion –coming to downtown Springfield with a Big Y Express.
Officials say that the plan is to convert the old CVS store at Tower Square into an Express location which will allow residents of the downtown access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
Store officials say they believe the Express store will satisfy the appetite of those who work and live downtown.
The plan is to be open sometime in the spring or early summer. There are 13 other Big Y Express locations in the region.
Mayor Dom Sarno calls it a big win for the city.
