T-Birds Waiting At Home For Hartford, Providence And Laval

The Springfield Thunderbirds are home for the next three games starting tonight against the Hartford Wolfpack.

The Thunderbirds have pretty good success against the wolfpack. They have played seven previous times with a record of 5-1-0-1.

Joel Hofer, the American Hockey League’s Player of the Week is expected to get the start tonight. Hartford is expected to start Louis Domingue. It is a rematch of the last time the two teams faced off against each other which was 65-minute overtime shutout tie. Hartford did win the game in the shootout though.

There will be no rest for the Thunderbirds as they take on Providence at the Mass Mutual Center on Friday night. All the games this year with the Bruins, with the exception of one have been one goal affairs. The match up is important for both teams. The Bruins are a point behind Hershey for the top spot in the Atlantic Division. Springfield is in fifth place, 13 points out of first place, seven points behind third place Charlotte.

Saturday, the Thunderbirds will finish out a tough stretch by taking on Laval Rocket. It will be their only trip in this season.

The game is important for the Thunderbirds both on the ice and off. Saturday will be the sixth annual Pink in the Rink game. Proceeds of the game go to the Rays of Hope Foundation of Western Mass. Pink ice, pink game jerseys will be the call of the day.

There are tickets for the three home games this week and all remaining games at the Mass Mutual Center Ticket Office and if you can’t make it to the game you can listen to them all, home and away on Newsradio 560 WHYN.
