Westfield Base Lands New Generation Of Jets

The United States Air Force is selecting the 104th Fighter Wing in Westfield as its preferred location to host the service's new F-35A Lightning 2 Squadron.

The Massachusetts Air National Guard says the Air Force Secretary will have to sign a record of decision upon receiving a favorable environmental impact statement before the move is made official.

Adjutant General Gary Keefe says the 104th Fighter Wing has years of experience with the fighter mission at home and abroad, the community is used to fighter operations and provides tremendous support, and the base is perfectly located for homeland defense.
