Massachusetts US Attorney To Resign

Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins is stepping down after a Justice Department investigation into ethical issues.

Rollins has sent an email to staff confirming that she will submit her resignation to President Biden by Friday.

Rollins indicated in the message to staff that her presence has become a distraction.

Rollins had been accused of violating the Hatch Act banning certain federal officials from engaging in partisan political activities, and the report on the matter is due out today.

Rollins had been in the post for just 16 months.
