Group Seeks "Poverty" As Issue For Action For Presidential Candidates

Hundreds of Massachusetts residents from across the state are on their way to Washington today to participate in a three day rally to highlight what they are calling an American Death Sentence due to poverty in this country.

The Poor People s Campaign for Moral Action Poverty Congress will be meeting with lawmakers seeking to make the issue part of the Presidential campaign in 2024.

The group says that 36 percent of people in Massachusetts are poor or low income. That's about 2 point 4 million people.

The group says that poverty is the 4th leading cause of death nationwide and it is time for Congress to act.
