Senator Jack Reed is irate after Alabama Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville is blocking more than 250 military promotions.
The move, for example means that the Marine Corps will be without a confirmed commander for the first time in 164 years.
Reed, who is the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee says Tuberville's move not only throws the military into disarray, but also brings them into the realm of politics and that is something they have avoided since its inception.
Tuberville is blocking the promotions over the Pentagon's abortion policy which pays for travel and time off for service members if their state doesn't allow the procedure.
