SJC Rejects Appeal Of 2005 Murder Conviction

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court is upholding a murder conviction.

Dennis Bateman of Greenfield is serving two consecutive life sentences for the strangulation death of Brandy Waryasz and her unborn child in 2005.

Waryasz was on the job as a gas station employee at the Sunoco in Deerfield when she became the victim of a fatal robbery.

Bateman's attorneys claimed the trial was flawed from numerous decisions made by Superior Court Judge John Agostini.

The defense also claimed a jail house confession was not legal.
