Second Arraignment - One More Suspect Sought In Holyoke Shooting

Two men are being charged with murder in connection to Wednesday's shooting in downtown Holyoke which caused a pregnant woman to lose her baby. The victim was reportedly hit by stray gunfire while she was riding a bus. The Hampden District Attorney's Office identified the men as Alejandro Ramos and Johnluis Sanchez, both from Holyoke. Ramos appeared at an arraignment in court on Thursday, while Sanchez is still in the hospital. Police are still searching for a third suspect.

Meantime, the Holyoke Mayor is calling for peace in his city following the latest violence. Joshua Garcia calling for more police on the streets, more cameras and a specialized unit to deal with the violence. The city council could take up the proposal at its next meeting.

Also House Democrats are proposing an overhaul of gun laws in Massachusetts. A new bill was released today to update the assault weapons ban and limit the right to carry in some places. The Ways and Means Committee holds a public hearing next Tuesday. A vote in the House is expected later this month.
