Local Rallies Show Support For Israel

A vigil was held last night at Temple Beth El in Springfield to mourn the loss of life in the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel.

Congressman Richard Neal called this an unprovoked attack on innocent people.

He said eleven Americans have been killed, and added there are others who may have been taken hostage.

Mayor Domenic Sarno promised extra police patrols at Temple Beth El and other places of worship in Springfield to ensure people's safety.

Meantime, there was a rally for Palestinian rights last night in Northampton.

It was hosted by the group Massachusetts Peace Action, which says the escalating violence in Israel is unfortunate, but not surprising because they say the Israeli government has mistreated Palestinian people.

The group is calling for the United States government to stop giving Israel assistance.
