An early-morning house fire in Springfield has left one person dead.
Crews were called to the 100 block of Grover Street at around 5:30 a.m., with reports that two people were trapped inside the home.
Both were taken to an area hospital; one, listed only as being 30 years old, was declared dead.
The second victim was airlifted to Boston and was last listed as being in critical condition.
Nearby streets were closed; the cause of the fire is not yet known, but officials say smoke alarms inside the house were not working.
