The state Senate has agreed on a nearly three-billion-dollar spending bill that includes 250-million-dollars for emergency shelters.
The Senate bill allows Governor Maura Healey to determine how the shelter money should be spent, but the measure must be reconciled with the House.
The version passed by the House requires the 250-million-dollars to be spent on specific items, including 50 million for a large overflow shelter.
The state has reached its cap of 75 hundred families in emergency shelters and has started a waiting list.
