A new Citizens for Juvenile Justice report has provided details of disciplinary patterns at Springfield schools and found that students of color are disproportionately subjected to disciplinary action, which includes arrests.
Black students make up about 18 percent of the school population, but they account for nearly a quarter of those disciplined, and 50 percent of the arrests.
The report suggests that over-policing has led to tensions between students and student resource officers, or SROs.
