High, Union, School Street Residents Safer After 20 People Arrested

Springfield police have made numerous arrests in the takedown of a pair of rival drug operations.

"Operation High/School Out" focused on a section of the city with high crime activity, and officials say the two groups were engaged in a violent turf war over control of the cocaine and fentanyl trade.

The operation resulted in 20 arrests.

Authorities seized ten kilograms of cocaine, a half-kilogram of heroin/fentanyl, nearly 60 grams of methamphetamine, 20 firearms, and more than 400 thousand dollars in cash.
