Victims Identified In Fatal Small Plane Crash

The three victims of Sunday's plane crash in Leyden have been identified.

Reports say the twin-engine Beechcraft Baron took off from Barnes Airport in Westfield, just after 11 am, and crashed about 20 minutes later in the Leyden Wildlife Management Area.

Killed were 53-year-old Frederika Ballard of Southwick, 68-year-old William Hampton of Indian Orchard, and Chad Davidson, 29, of Woodstock, Connecticut.

Ballard was the owner of the Fly Lugu Flight School in Westfield; Hampton was a flight instructor with Davidson a student pilot.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
