Governor Healey: "Government Should Make Things Easier-Not Tougher"

Governor Maura Healey is calling for new investments in housing and the MBTA in her State of the Commonwealth.

Healey delivered the speech last night at the State House, speaking of her administration's efforts to address the soaring costs of childcare and housing.

She also spoke of the need to transform the MBTA into a transit system worthy of the state economy.

The governor also pledged to seek federal funding to cover the costs of housing the migrant families flooding into the state.

Republicans by and large pointed to ill-timed costly programs. They contend that the state should properly administer what is already in the system now before adding new programs.

We will get a better idea of cost for programs and implementation when the governor submits her budget in the next week.
