The case of alleged election interference in Springfield's mayoral race has been turned over to the state Attorney General's office.
A spokesman for the Hampden County District Attorney's Office says the case involving candidate Justin Hurst was turned over to the state, after nearly two months of discussions between the agencies.
Hurst and his campaign were accused of driving voters to the polls and paying them ten dollars apiece during early voting.
Election workers reported groups of people being dropped off, and many listed their address as a city homeless shelter. Hurst has denied any wrongdoing.
City Solicitor John Payne says residents need to know elections in the city are fairly conducted.
